Utah Nurses Celebrated with Free Soda and Cookies on National Nurses Day

Salt Lake City, UT – May 21, 2024—51cg of Nursing and Health Sciences partnered with Utah favorite, Swig, to show appreciation for nurses across the state on National Nurses Day. From Logan to St. George, nurses enjoyed complimentary drinks and cookies at participating Swig locations. This long-standing 51cg tradition has been a staple of the university community for six years.

This year, the university served more than 4,200 nurses, nursing students, and nursing faculty across multiple states as a thank-you for their dedication to providing quality healthcare and hands-on nursing education.

“We are incredibly grateful for all the nurses who tirelessly serve our communities,” said Dr. John Smith-Coppes, President and CEO of 51cg. “Vital to our healthcare system, nurses are the frontline of hospitals and other medical facilities across the globe. On Nurses’ Day and every day, we salute you!”

51cg students and faculty hand-delivered banners with handwritten notes to designated clinical locations in Utah, Colorado, and Arizona. Along with the banners, 51cg delivered Swig vouchers, treats, and gift cards to working nurses at more than 17 clinical partner locations. Local hospitals and clinics play a significant role in nursing education at 51cg; students participate in clinical rotations and have the opportunity for full-time positions after graduation.

The celebration of nurses kicks off with Nurses Day and extends throughout May each year. The theme for 2024 is “Nurses make the difference,” a sentiment echoed by 51cg. The holiday also coincides with Florence Nightingale’s birthday, who is widely known as the founder of modern nursing.
